Mumbai University and College Teachers Association (MUCTA) established in the year 2008
MUCTA is registered under Society registration Act. Association is affiliated to Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM). As per the objective of the Association Since its inception MUCTA started taking keen interest in the teachers’ wellbeing.
A massive awareness drive was conducted throughout Mumbai University affiliated Colleges under the leadership of Dr. Shekhar Chandratre, as President and Dr. Namdev Mandge, as General Secretary.
MUCTA contested University Senate elections and three candidates could win the election. Since three members were elected as the authority members it became easy for MUCTA to raise issues for safeguarding teachers interest like timely salary payment, allowances, service conditions, work load, examination remuneration, approvals, CAS, syllabus revision on regular intervals etc.
MUCTA created two cells

Teacher Education cell
The idea of this cell is to educate teachers towards their responsibilities, provide information about University Act, Statutes, Ordinance etc.

Teacher Grievance cell
Association provides guidance to teachers if any injustice is done to teacher. This cell prepare teacher to fight for right cause.

शिक्षक भरतीस शासनाची परवानगी
-
शिक्षक भरतीस शासनाची परवानगी – विद्यापीठाच्या सलग्नीत महाविद्यालयांमधील शिक्षक – शिक्षकेतर भरती गेली १० वर्ष रखडलेली होती. अखिल भारतीय राष्ट्रीय शैक्षिक महासंघ या देशस्तरीय संघटनेच्या महाराष्ट्र राज्यातील अनेक समविचारी संघटनांना बरोबर घेऊन शासन दरबारी सातत्याने पाठपुरवा केला. सद्यस्थितीत शासनाने ४० टक्के इतकी शिक्षक भरती करण्यास परवागनी दिलेली आहे. शिक्षक भरतीचा मार्ग या निमित्ताने मोकळा झाला.

प्राध्यापकांच्या आश्वासित प्रगती योजना (Career Advancement Scheme – CAS )

या संदर्भात संघटनेच्या अध्यक्षांनी अधिसभेमध्ये स्थगन प्रस्ताव मांडला होता. त्या अनुषंगाने विद्यापीठ स्तरावरील शिक्षकांचे CAS करण्यात यावेत. व विद्यापीठाच्या सलग्नीत महाविद्यालयांमधील शिक्षकांच्या CAS / अपृवल साठी मुंबई तसेच कोंकणात कॅम्प लावण्यात यावेत अशी मागणी केली. त्याच्या अंमलबजावणी साठी केलेल्या पाठपुराव्यानंतर विद्यापीठाने केलेली कार्यवाही.
